Information

Chosen serves foster, adoptive, kinship, and biological parents and caregivers (ages 18+) with children who come from a trauma background due to abuse, neglect, and/or separation from their biological family.
Our Care Managers work to coordinate an overall interdisciplinary and trauma-informed/responsive plan of care for their family. Our Care Managers are trained in and utilize various trauma-informed/responsive curriculum to teach parents to understand the impact trauma has had on their children’s development and how this correlates with the challenging behaviors their children may be exhibiting. We provide them with tools and techniques to help regulate their children and work through challenging behaviors.
Chosen provides some clinical services to caregivers and children, however, if clinical services are needed, Care Managers primarily connect families with counseling/therapy resources in their community.
Chosen is a predominantly virtual agency, providing our sessions via Zoom video calls. Although our Care Managers have varying educational backgrounds, we do have several Care Managers and other professionals who are licensed Social Workers at Chosen.

Intern job description:
During an internship at Chosen, interns shadow sessions with families, write case notes, create “Weekly Action Plans” or weekly homework for families, electronically administer assessments, complete assessments with families via phone if needed, and assist Care Managers with daily tasks to assist them in their work with families.
Interns also write “Trauma-Informed Action Plans," which are the overall interdisciplinary and trauma-informed/responsive plans of care for each family Chosen serves.
Interns complete at least one biopsychosocial assessment while the Care Manager shadows, and once fully trained can teach trauma-informed/responsive curriculum to families and carry a small caseload. Skillset and comfortability are taken into consideration.

Those without COVID-19 vaccine must be tested for COVID-19 three days prior to any in-person meeting. The standard over-the-counter antigen test may be used but may not be both self-administered and self-read. The test must be observed and read by the employer or an authorized telehealth provider. Testing would be at the expense of the intern.
Chosen is a faith-based agency, however, we work with any family in need of our services, regardless of religious beliefs. Faith-based components are woven into curriculum and conversations with clients who are believers. We regularly pray during staff meetings, and if appropriate, during family sessions. An intern would never be asked to pray aloud or teach faith-based practices if they are not comfortable. If a faith-based environment would be uncomfortable for an intern, Chosen may not be the best fit.
