Information

The goal of Columbus Hospice is to assist patients and their loved ones in effectively coping with the special problems encountered in the final stages of life.  Hospice philosophy stresses patient comfort and relief of suffering and pain.  Hospice does not become involved in the treatment aimed at curing the disease.  Columbus Hospice wants our patients to have the highest quality of life available to them as defined by their values, beliefs, and lifestyle choices.  Columbus Hospice strives to help the loved ones move through the grief process in a way that promotes lifetime well-being for survivors.  Out admission criteria require a physician certified end-stage diagnosis with a prognosis of six months or less and signed informed consent documents.  The hospice social worker's services include an initial assessment, assistance with money management, Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance forms, as well as utilizing community resources.  Emotional support and counseling are available to meet family needs and to assist with legal forms such as living wills and power of attorney forms.
