24/7 emergency department in a U.S. Army hospital. Patients seen are soldiers, family members, and retirees with behavioral health issues. Care is acute and short-term with usually one-time intervention. Age is 5-80 years old. Social workers assess suicide risk level, do crisis intervention, and facilitate admission to area psychiatric facilities. Must be able to communicate MH diagnosis and symptoms to psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse. Short-term interventions for anxiety/panic and other BH conditions, assess depression, level of risk, and make appropriate referrals. Assess domestic violence, child abuse, and make appropriate referrals.

Special placement information:
Accepting BSW students. Full-time positions only. Also accepting MSW 1st-year and MSW 2nd-year/Advanced Standing (clinical) students. Full- and part-time positions available.
Transportation required. Agency not accessible by public transit.
Stipend not available.
Liability insurance required. 
Agency hours: 24 hours, 7 days a week. Weekend and evening hours available.
