Dakota Children's Advocacy Center

Bismarck, North Dakota

The mission of the DCAC is to provide a safe, family friendly environment that promotes hope, health, and healing to traumatized children and their families. We are a victim-focused, community-orientated, safe facility in which members of a multidisciplinary team work together to provide a comprehensive, coordinated, and compassionate investigation, and intervention of abuse allegations. We serve kids and their families affected by abuse. Clients range from 0 - 100, although the majority of our clients are under the age of 18. However we firmly believe that you can serve a kid without also working with their caregivers. We provide advocacy services, medical services, mental health services, and forensic services free of charge to families. Our students typically work with our advocates (at the bachelors level) providing resources, support, and care to our families. They also help families navigate the system, such as attending court with them. They also work in our MH program providing evidenced based counseling services to families. Students are expected to take on their own caseload after training.
