First Steps is dedicated to providing access to the resources and support new Milwaukee mothers need to care for their families. The goal is to reduce infant mortality rates. Clients include low-income mothers, ages 16-38, and minorities (mostly African Americans). We provide ongoing case management for each client during pregnancy and postpartum. 

Special Placement Information:

Full and Part-time BSW and MSW. Student is considered an independent contractor and will need transportation. Hourly pay - paid once a month. Agency is open from 9am-3pm CST. Student decides hours to work with client. This can happen at night, but not required.
