The Department of Student Support and Transitions consists of 4 offices all of whom are designated to support students during their time at FSU.
-The Victim Advocate Program provides 24-hour crisis counseling to victims of crimes. Interns will meet with clients on a regular basis and develop their own case load in order to provide ongoing counseling for victims, advocacy, and support. The Office of Case Management Services provides support to student's experiencing family, medical, mental health, financial, or personal crises. This includes but is not limited to death in the family, homelessness, food insecurity, medical and mental health emergencies, etc. Interns will meet with students on a regular basis and provide biopsychosocial assessments to best address students immediate concerns. They also develop treatment plans for referrals and follow up of clients. -Office of Accessibility Services assists students with ADA accommodations. This will include review of clinical notes, diagnoses, and documentation to best implement accommodations that are suited for the unique students. Interns will meet and complete assessments with clients on a regular basis and provide support to students as needed. -Office of Withdrawal Services manages all withdrawals from the university. First step is complete a biopsychosocial assessment to address needs of the student and type of withdrawal needed. Interns would be assisting with assessing if medical or mental health withdrawals are appropriate and helping clients understand that process. Treatment plans would consist of referrals to appropriate campus and community partners and follow up if students need assistance re-enrolling at the university.
Special Placement Information:
The Agency is accepting BSW Full-time, MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Clinical students. The Department of Student Support and Transitions is located at University Center A on campus and is available via campus transit. There is no travel required by the students off campus (except for VAP where students may travel to Refuge House, the courthouse, or hospital- there is no reimbursement for this). Agency hours are 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday. EXCEPT VAP which is 24/7. Interns in VAP are only expected to work during normal business hours. There is no stipend available. There is no video or audio taping permitted. Students do not need liability insurance.
