The Mental Health Center provides free therapy to individuals, couples, and families who are uninsured or underinsured. The Mental Health Center is part of the Center for Healthy Living, which houses many partner agencies so that clients can get all their needs met in one location. Services offered at the center include mental health therapy, psychiatry, psycho-educational groups, yoga therapy, case management, resource brokering, integrative wellness classes, and partner agency services such as the Public Law Center, Girls Inc. afterschool programming, ESL classes, entrepreneurship, Stop Short of addiction, Family Resource Center, NAMI, Parenting, etc.
Special Placement Information:
The Agency is accepting BSW Full-time, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Clinical Students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing. BSW can have placements for 1 or 2 semesters. MSW students would need to be available for 2 semesters (roughly 16-20 hours/week). There is a lot of training that happens during the first several weeks of the internship for MSW students. One semester is not sufficient to obtain the full training. Students will need to make it to the agency for their required hours/shift but will not need a car to do any house visits or off-site visits. At this time, no stipend is available However, the agency does pay for the students to be trained in EMDR, as well as provide additional training over the year. Videotaping was permissible previously, but the hospital has changed its requirements, and it is currently not an option. Agency Hours: Monday-Friday 8 AM - 7:00 PM (availability until 7:00 PM is required at least one day); Sa: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM (Saturday availability is preferred).
