LaAmistad’s mission is to prepare Latino students and families for success through academic and life enrichment programs. We typically serve elementary programs. We typically serve elementary age students up through high school. We also have a program for adults learning English. The role or a social work intern is to provide mentorship, therapy. (If advanced standing), connect family’s resources, academic coaching social/emotional learning and crisis management.
Special Information Placement
MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing, (Clinical), Part-time MSW. Speaking Spanish is not required but would open more opportunity to work with families. LaAmistad does not reimburse travel nor do we provide a stipend. Transportation between locations maybe required the closest bus stop is over a mile away. Primary hours 2pm-6pm for afterschool programming weekend and evening hours are available.
