Lakeland Regional Health's Harrell Family Center for Behavioral Wellness is a 96-bed inpatient Baker Act receiving crisis stabilization unit. We have 12 child/adolescent beds where we care for minors ages 8 and up. The other inpatient beds are for adults throughout the lifespan. Social workers on the inpatient unit provide a variety of services:
1. Crisis interventions
2. Lead Groups on different therapeutic topics
a. Coping Skills
b. Psychosocial Education
c. Mindfulness/Relaxation
d. Other supportive topics
3. Case management
a. Psychosocial assessment
b. Family assessment/education on illness and the importance of continuity of care
c. Referrals for ongoing treatment after discharge from the hospital
d. Develop and coordinate with the treatment a successful individualized treatment and discharge plan for each patient.
4. Coordinates activities required to comply with the Baker Act and Marchman Act laws
Special Information Placement:
The Agency is accepting BSW Full time, MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Clinical. The student will need to provide their transportation. We are on the Citrus Connection bus line. LRH does not reimburse travel for interns/students This is not a paid internship/no stipend provided We do not permit recording of patients We are open 24/7 Students will need to complete a student packet.
