Moffitt Cancer Center is an NCI designated comprehensive cancer whose mission is to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer, serving adults and a small adolescent and young adult population.  As an Ancillary service within this setting, the social work department provides psychosocial services including counseling, discharge planning, support group facilitation, linkage to community resources, and periodic special programs designed to support the patient and family through treatment from time of initial diagnosis through end of life in both the clinic and hospital setting.  We do not serve pediatric patients

Special Information

MSW 1st Year and 2nd Year/Advanced Standing (clinical) Full time positions available.  While there is not stipend available to interns, Moffitt has historically been awarded a training grant from the American Cancer Society which is awarded to a single student in placement in the fall semester of each year.  Students should have professional liability insurance and provide their own transportation.  Moffitt is located on a city bus line.  Agency hours are 8:30am-5:00pm Mon-Fri.  While after hour social work services are available to patients, interns must complete their training and supervision with the agency hours.  MSW internships at Moffitt are intended for students interested in pursuing a career in oncology social work.
