The Oasis Center for Women & Girls is a new organization located in Tallahassee.  Right now there is a focus on program development in addition to direct services.  Oasis aims to provide services to women & girls in the community through individual, sliding fee scale counseling, group counseling, such as the Single Mom's Support Group, and camps during the summer for girls, such as the Girls Can Do Anything! Camp.  Oasis also plans to conduct support groups for girls (Girls Circles) at local schools and other social service agencies in town.  Ages ranges for the women and girls are across the board.  The main role of the Social Worker in this agency is to provide services to women and girls through community education, counseling, Girls Camps and Girls Circles programs.  As mentioned previously, there is a current focus on program development as we get this new, innovative program up and running to provide sliding fee scale services to women to fill the gap there is in that area in our community.

Special Information

Part-time BSW and MSW students.   Student transportation would be helpful, but at this time is not required.  There is not expected to be a great deal of travel.  There is no stipend available at this time.  Video and audio taping would be permitted with client permission only.  Agency hours are varied at this time.  Daytime hours available, as well as evening hours for support groups would be needed.  The agency is located three blocks from the main bus terminal downtown.
