OpusCare Is a hospice agency that provides end-of-life care to patients and their families. Our primary goal is to provide comfort by relieving physical, emotional, and spiritual distress, and promote the dignity of the terminally ill. We primarily serve the geriatric population of all ethnic groups within Miami-Dade County. The role of the hospice social worker is to advocate, educate, and assist patients' families in transitioning into hospice and palliative care. Social Workers are part of an interdisciplinary care team to assess biopsychosocial needs and provide psychological counseling and emotional support.
to resolve or minimize stressors (such as grief reactions, Inadequate coping, family dynamics, anxiety, depression, etc.), provide advance care planning (such as living will, designation of health care surrogate, power of attorney, etc.), advocacy and problem-solving ethical dilemmas (such as Do-Not-Resuscitate, withdrawing or withholding treatment, hydration and nutrition, etc.), access community resources (such as medical, special transportation, meals on wheels, funeral arrangements, etc.). All social work Interventions are based on client-centered, self-determined, and culturally appropriate care.
The Agency is accepting BSW, MSW 1st year and 2nd Year/Advanced Standing (Clinical). Full-time and Part-time positions available. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Students will need their own reliable transportation and proof of a valid driver's license and automobile Insurance. All students will be required to pass the following screenings and the agency will cover-the associated cost:
I.) drug and alcohol test
2) purified protein derivation (PPD) skin test to assess for tuberculosis (TD)
3) Florida Dept of Law Enforcement (FDLE) level 2 background check
