Tampa Jewish Family Services offers confidential counseling for clients from age 15 and up with a variety of mental health and substance abuse issues. The mission of Tampa Jewish Family is to provide counseling. community services and assistance consistent with Jewish values for the purpose of strengthening individuals and families of all faiths in the Tampa area. Consistent with our mission we work to connect callers with resources in the community if we cannot we meet their individual needs. Jewish Family services offers food support through a monthly community food bank, and emergency food packages. The social worker will assist in gathering client information that can be used to provide documentation for grants. The social worker will screen and assess each client for counseling, formulate treatment plan goals, and work with the client to resolve problem areas identified. We work with clients that have insurance and offer a reduced and sliding fee scale options. We offer individual. family group and couples sessions. The social worker will assist with community client callers seeking help with utility bills, rent. and mortgage payments. The social worker will also offer clients to community resources and places for homeless people.
An MSW student will be responsible for following cases from intake    
providing counseling sessions, referrals to community supports and preparing clients for discharge. An intern will work to develop community resource connections and to these resources to clients to assist with social support. An intern will be responsible for attending weekly staff meetings. The intern will attend weekly supervision sessions and developing and following an agenda. The intern will formulate a clinical diagnosis after an assessment and develop clinical goals for counseling working from the initial assessment. An intern will help assist with callers requesting financial assistance making additional community referrals as needed. An intern will document clinical notes to document clinical interactions with clients in the electronic medical record system.
 

Special Placement Information:

 Agency is accepting MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing students.  A student will need transportation to get the agency. Travel is not reimbursed by the TJFS. There is no stipend available to the student. Students may need liability coverage. There are some evening hours but no weekend hours available. The agency is available by bus. Audio and video taping is permitted with client consent.
