Volusia County School’s Social Services department serves K-12 students School social workers are trained mental health professionals with Master’s Degree in social work who provide services related to students social and emotional adjustment to school, family and community providing direct as well as indirect services to students, families, school personnel and community stakeholders to promote and support students’ academic and social successes.  These services include advocacy, attendance compliance, counseling, crisis intervention, home visits, information and referral services, school/parent communication, school personnel and agency collaboration, and social and developmental history assessment.

Special Placement Information

MSW (2nd year and advanced standing, (clinical) Transportation are required and mileage is reimbursed by the school district.  No stipend is available for internships.  Typically the university furnishes the liability insurance coverage.  Agency hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am-3:30 pm.  Agency information can be obtained from website vcsedu.org/school-social-services.
