BARC is an agency that provides therapeutic services for clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders. BARC has the full continuum of care (i.e.detox, residential, IOP and OP, aftercare). BARC serves adult male and female clients age 18 years and older. We provide services to adult clients of all ethnic backgrounds. Clients are referred to BARC from various referral sources, which include but are not limited to; self-referrals, Department of Children and Families, Childnet, Marcman Act, drug court, BBHC, Criminal Justice System, etc. The agency has many staff that provide clinical services to the clients, including ‘social Workers. These workers provide individual, group, and family counseling. They also provide case management services to clients in order to solidify the client’s discharge plan and maintain client recovery. The staff also work as a multi-disciplinary team to advocate for the client in their recovery.
Special Placement Information
BSW full-time, MSW 1st year students, MSWA 2nd year and Advanced Standing, (clinical) the student will need to provide their own transportation to and from the agency and any community events in which they might need to participate. Travel is not reimbursed by the agency and a stipend is not available for the interns. Students will need liability insurance and video and audiotaping is not allowed. The student will have learning opportunities at their internship (e.g. process recordings, shadowing of clinical services, co-facilitating clinical services, etc.). The agency hours are Mon to Fri 8am to 6pm. Weekend hours on a case-by-case basis.
