The Manatee County School District is a rapidly growing, intermediate-size district with a long tradition of excellence in academics and athletics.  The District has an enrollment of over 40,000 students and 4,500 employees with culturally and linguistically diverse student body and staff.  The Manatee County School district currently has 31 elementary schools, 9 middle schools, 6 high schools, a variety of charter schools and alternat65ive schools and two adult education centers.  The majority of the schools are new or updated.  The district is planning to build three elementary schools and a new middle school within the next two years.  All schools have state-of-the-art technology, and curriculum that is aligned with the standards of the state of Florida.  
The Manatee County school District educates children from Pre-K through 12th grade. Interns will have the opportunity to complete School Social Work Assessments by interviewing the parent, administer and interpret various rating scales, work with students providing individual and group counseling, complete classroom observations, make home visits, participate in problem solving multi­ disciplinary teams, implement attendance and behavior interventions, provide case management, documentation, and advocate on behalf of students and their family.
 

Special Placement Information:

Agency accepts MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Clinical Students.  Student will need her own transportation. No stipend is available. Intern hours will be during the school day (8:00-4:30). Weekend and evening hours are not available. Interns will be off for all school breaks: spring break, thanksgiving and summer. At this time, all contact is in-person- no virtual opportunities.
