The Helping HANDS program seeks to improve behavioral health outcomes for those with a mental illness and/or substance abuse disorder who are at risk of entering the criminal justice system or becoming institutionalized. Through early intervention, prevention, and transitional support to the community the goals are to reduce recidivism and enhance their quality of life.  Population Served: 18yrs and older; Polk County resident; at/below 200% Federal Poverty Level; history of arrest and/or Baker or Marchman act.

Special Placement Information:

The Agency is accepting MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Clinical.  Indigent Health Care building is open Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm; however, the Helping HANDS program has a staff person on call 24/7 to their participants and can be available in the evenings or weekends as needed. The office building is accessible by bus. The Helping HANDS team primarily meets the participants in the community, including in the jail, home or a community setting.
