An internship at Villas at Killearn Lakes offers a social work experience in a unique assisted living facility setting. Villas at Killearn Lakes opened in June 2019 and is 60% locally owned allowing creativity from a standard corporate environment. Villas at Killearn Lakes is built on the philosophy of an elder-directed lifestyle changing living in a "facility" to living in a home. The social work student will learn how to put into practice the elements of interviewing, assessment, and case management. He or she will assist in completing assessments, creating Life Enrichment Plans, facilitating engagement opportunities, participating in Interdisciplinary team meetings, providing emotional support to Elders and their families, learning the concepts of an empowered workforce, assisting in developing new processes, and learning the macro impacts of state laws and regulations, budgeting and surveying. There will be additional opportunities to assist in mass communication related to monthly newsletters and social media posts. The internship requires the student to be present in the community. Villas at Killearn Lakes follows all CDC guidelines and prides itself on maintaining stringent infection control procedures. Supervision will be provided by an LCSW who has worked for 15 years in the social work field, including hospice, bereavement, gerontology, and administration.

Special Placement Information:

The Agency is accepting BSW Full-time, MSW 1st year students. Part-time BSW, Part-time MSW.  The internship will be completed on site in person.  The hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Weekend hours can be made available upon request.  A stipend is not provided.  It is suggested a student have Liability Insurance, but it is not required.  Video and audio taping are not permitted.  The agency is located Northeast.  Tallahassee and is not accessible by bus.  No traveling is required.
