Manjun Kim
Manjun Kim is a PhD student at Florida State University College of Social Work. His research centers on how social capital, social inclusion, and community engagement contribute to older adults’ health and well-being using qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Manjun earned a BA in Counseling Psychology, a BA in Social Welfare from Handong Global University, and an MA in Social Welfare from Seoul National University.
His commitment to social work is deeply rooted in his personal experiences receiving care from and providing care to his grandmother. Witnessing her challenges with aging-related diseases motivated him to reflect on what constitutes good end-of-life care and what the social work profession has to offer. To promote a continuum of care beyond the healthcare system for older adults and their family members, Manjun’s research focuses on the impact of Age-Friendly environments for people of all ages. He is particularly interested in evaluating and enhancing caregiver support, affordable housing options, strengthening social inclusion, and service access in the community. His recent work has explored how the digital divide impacts service access among different segments of older adults and their experiences with technological anxiety.
