Dr. Amy L. Ai, a Florida State University (FSU) Distinguished Research Professor at the College of Social Work, was recognized by the Society for Behavioral Medicine (SBM) as a 2026 recipient of the society’s Cardiovascular Disease Group (CVD SIG) Kenneth E. Freedland Founder’s Award.
Students Experience International Social Work Firsthand Through Alternative Spring Break Program

Thirteen social work undergraduate and graduate students spent their 2026 Spring Break experiencing international social work in the East Caribbean. For more than a decade, the College of Social Work has offered an Alternative Spring Program that introduces social work students through collaborations with organizations in Grenada, West Indies.

When Home Changes, Support Shifts: What Research Can Tell Us About Mothers and Why Support Matters

A recent study published in Family Relations found that household structure composition and residential stability are factors that influence mothers’ perceptions of available supports. Data used from the Future of Families and Child Well-being, a national dataset following almost 5,000 families (mothers, fathers, and their children) from the child’s birth through young adulthood and beyond.
