IHA OB/GYN Behavioral Health provides specialized psychotherapy services to women (16-80) during the perinatal period, as well as brief Infant Mental Health (IMH) and trauma-informed care.
In addition, the OB/GYN clinical Social Worker aides the OB/GYN division through resource maintenance. The OB/GYN Social Worker is available for health and behavior consults, and advocacy for patients. Lastly, OB/GYN Social Worker operates as a resource for crisis management, navigation, and coordination, as needed.
An intern will receive support and training in the following:

• IMH/Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders

• Resource development and brokering of services

• Community collaboration with maternal-infant mental health systems

• Patient advocacy

• Health and behavioral consults with patients and providers

• Forming and monitoring patient well-being plans

• Completing patient mood checks

• Utilization of screenings (e.g., GAD-7, PHQ-9, & Ace Scoring)

• Crisis management, crisis planning and reporting

• Patient documenting  and charting

• Assessment and diagnosing

• Assisting in developing leadership, OB/GYN division, and community presentations

• Data collection of patient outcomes in services

• Participate in creating perinatal mood and anxiety disorder group

• Maintains strict patient and employee confidentiality in compliance with IHA and HIPAA guidelines.

• Ability to function as member of interdisciplinary team and recognize impact of treatment goals, utilization and outcome. 

• Extensive knowledge of community resources.

• Awareness of clinic population’s needs and services, and all aspects of community outreach, education.

• Familiarity and compliance with NASW Code of Ethics.

 

Special placement information:
Accepting BSW, MSW 1st-year, and MSW 2nd-year/Advanced Standing (clinical) students. Full- and part-time positions available.
Transportation required. Travel reimbursement not available.
Stipend not available. 
Liability insurance required.
Video-/Audio-taping not permitted.
Agency hours: 7:00AM-5:00PM. Weekend hours not available, A student will need transportation.
