Atlanta Public Schools is a school district based in Atlanta, Georgia.  We serve students in grades Pre--12th, which includes ages 4-22 who receive general and special education services.  The School Social Worker serve as a ink between the home, school and community.  They work to ensure that students remain in school reach their fullest academic potential, grow socially/emotionally and ultimately graduate.  As part of the educational team social workers support students. thriving in schools and in life by removing barriers that interfere with their performance.  Students may be referred for problems and concerns that affect their academic achievement and social-emotional wellbeing. Parents, legal guardians, school personnel or others familiar with the student may refer to the school social worker; or a student ay refer themselves.  The school social work coordinated services that are provided to assist students, include, but are not limited to: 

Special Placement Information:

Agency is accepting MSW 1st year, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing.  Although many of our schools are accessible by public transportation, interns need reliable transportation to move about the district.  Travel is not reimbursed.  Liability insurance is not required by our district.  Video or audio is not permitted.  The intern would work the assigned schedule of their field supervisor.  For instance, if the filed supervisor works  7:30a.m. to 300pm., the intern would work their hours within that time frame.  Weekend and evening hours are not available.  We strongly encourage COVID-19 Vaccinations and our agency offers weekly testing.  Before beginning the internship, the intern would be scheduled for a background check and fingerprinting by our Safety and Security Department.  The out of pocket cost is currently $45, payable online or via money order.  The student will be notified when they pass or fail.
