BAYS Florida provides a full range of services to prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency in partnership with families, schools, communities, law enforcement, and the Department of Juvenile Justice. BAYS is committed to protecting the public by reducing juvenile crime and delinquency in Florida by using a balanced approach. The balanced approach develops youth competencies, establishes youth accountability and increases public safety. The youth's served in our program are adolescents up to 18 years of age.

•    Will have the opportunity to view the case management process with BAYS from conception to completion.
•    Will learn the rules and procedures of the Juvenile Diversion Alternative Program (JDAP).
•    Will learn and have specific trainings related to the JDAP program and the Department of Juvenile Justice.
•    Will be educated on the difference between non-profit and for-profit agencies in the Juvenile Justice Arena.
•    Will learn the key concepts of case management shadowing along with BAYS case managers.
•    Will have the experience of exposure to a diverse population in the juvenile court system, in the community, in individual/family setting, and in psycho-educational class       settings.
•    Participate in facilitating psychoeducational classes using evidenced based practice.
•    Will be able to implement their learned skills and compliment their education with a placement with Bay Area Youth Services.

Special placement information:
Accepting BSW, MSW 1st Year, and MSW 2nd Year/Advanced Standing (SL + clinical) students. Full- and part-time positions available.
**BAYS Florida has accommodated all of the above types of students. Clinical students have been accepted but it should be noted that this placement is best served for generalist students.**  
Transportation to office required. Agency accessible by public transit. Any traveling will be with an employee, so no travel reimbursement needed. 
Liability insurance not required.
Video-/Audio-taping permitted on a case by case basis. 
Agency hours: 9:00AM-5:00PM, Monday-Friday, however, there are specific scenarios that are made to meet our youth and family's needs such as evening classes and evening family contacts. Interns must pass a level two background screening and a drug screening. Must be completed prior to being able to begin internship. There is a fee associated with these screenings that the interns are responsible for which ranges from $43.68- $112.25. The variance in fees is dependent on if the intern has had a similar background screening and may currently be in the clearing system.
