•    Target Population: The target populations are individuals and families at risk of homelessness, chronically homeless individuals, veterans, and unaccompanied youth.
•    Target Age: All clients must be 18 years of age to apply for services.
•    Primary Function: Catholic Charities is a faith based nonprofit organization that is grounded in the Catholic Social Teaching. The primary mission of Catholic Charities is to serve, to empower, and to advocate for the poor, vulnerable, and suffering members of our communities.  Our agency offers a variety of services that affect the human, health, and welfare of clients by reducing evictions, homelessness, hunger, and by improving our client's quality of life.
•    Services Provides: internships are offered under the Emergency Assistance Program.)
a)    Alleviating Poverty by promoting self-sufficiency through case management, providing leadership for disaster preparation, response & recovery, and offering basic needs.
i)    Emergency Assistance: This program offers financial assistance, food, and clothing services, which involves financial literacy education, goal development, and strategies to achieve self-sufficiency. These services are offered to individuals faced with a crisis or financial hardship. Clients are screened weekly using assessment tools to access their needs, given an intake and assessment, offered case management services, offered case plan development, provided a case file with note documentation, offered financial education, and offered linkage to resources to assist in the client's recovery.
b)    Providing holiday assistance to needy families
i)    Christmas Connection: Christmas Connection is a community-based program that provides Christmas assistance for needy families. The families that are assisted through Christmas Connection are referred to us from various agencies and the school systems. Through this volunteer driven program, each family receives food, clothing, household items, new blankets, linens/towels, a special gift, and one critical need (such as a wheelchair ramp, house repairs, car repairs, financial assistance, etc.).
c)    Providing a Path for Legalization, Citizenship, and Resettlement
i)    Immigration: BIA (Bureau of immigration Appeals) accredited staff give advice on immigration laws and assist with the completion and filing of immigration forms for Permanent Residency, Work Authorization, Naturalization, Extension of Stay, asylum, protective status (VOWA).
d)    Building Families through Adoption
i)    Adoption Services: Adoption staff provide counseling for expectant mothers and adoption services.

Special Placement Information:

Agency is accepting Part-time BSW. 
•    Transportation: Interns will be required to provide his/her transportation to the agency. The agency is accessible by the bus system. Once at the agency, the intern may be allowed to use the agency vehicle for home visits with accompanied staff. The agency ask that interns use the company car for agency business. If approval is given to use a personal vehicle for agency business, mileage reimbursement is available. All interns must pass a motor vehicle authorization before given permission to drive the agency vehicles.
•    Hours of Operation: The office is open from Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. The office is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
•    Stipend: The agency does not provide stipends to interns.
•    Liability Insurance: All interns are required to have liability insurance for his/her vehicle if he/she uses his/car for agency business. Interns are required to use the agency vehicles for agency business at all times unless given permission to drive his/her vehicle for agency business.
•    Video Taping: Taping of client services is not permitted. Interns may-be allowed to tape some non-client events with permission.
