Agency Description:

C.A.R.E. is a dual certified domestic violence and rape crisis center. The agency's mission is to assist victims of domestic violence, rape, and other violent crimes. We serve anyone over the age of 12, though the dominant age group falls between 25-59 years old. The demographics of our clients represent our county as a whole. 
We serve clients through case management encompassing holistic services. There services include peer counseling, support groups, economic justice advocacy, civil and criminal justice advocacy, information and referrals, and emergency shelter. We engage community partners and provide liaison services to our clients for emotional and physical resources. 

Intern Job Description:
The intern will provide case management for victims and survivors of domestic violence abuse. Case management requires the advocate to complete an intake with clients to assess immediate, short term, and long term needs and goals. Based on the initial assessment, the advocate will provide direct services to the client as well as make referrals as needed. Direct client service provided by the advocate will include client intakes, peer counseling, hotline advocacy, and court accompaniment. 

Important Information:

This agency accepts part-time MSW students (clinical). There is a nominal county-wide bus system. The student intern will be required to provide their own transportation, and cost is not reimbursable. This position does not require liability insurance but does require victim advocacy certification, which is provided by the agency. The student must also be able to pass a level-2 background check. Recording of any kind is never permitted. C.A.R.E. provides hotline and shelter services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This provides ample opportunity for weekend and evening hours. The Covid-19 vaccine is not required, but strongly encouraged.
