CILO's mission is to promote independence for people with disabilities. We are a civil rights advocacy organization created through Federal Legislation. We serve all ages, all disabilities. The role of the social worker takes on many forms at CILO. We have victim advocates, disability advocates, education advocates, Independent living specialists, information and referral specialists, career camp coordinators & specialists, administrators, executive staff, food pantry specialists, public health navigators, board, interns, and volunteers.

Special Placement Information:

BSW Full time, MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Clinical Students, (Clinical), Part-time MSW.  Students will need transportation to travel our catchment area. The agency will reimburse job-related travel.  Students will sign a waiver form and are instructed to obtain their own health insurance or work through their school's liability insurance. Video and audio taping should be handled on a situational basis with the task manager or field supervisor. The agency's hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, with occasional evening and weekend hours. The agency is willing to be flexible with working students as long as they can provide some agency is available by.  CILO is currently operating on a hybrid model where services are being offered in a combination of virtual and or in-person formats.
Due to the nature of the population, we serve, we do have strict COVID policies including wearing a mask when in-person, observing social distancing, and notification of illness.
