Copper Hills Family Advocacy Center provides advocacy services for child, teen, and adult victims of crime. At risk youth and families are also served by the Advocacy Center. Forensic interviews, victim/family advocacy, and sexual assault and strangulation medical exams are done at the facility. Advocacy Center staff also assist with the facilitation and coordination of the multidisciplinary team that is involved with child abuse investigations. Advocacy Center staff also lead and participate in child abuse prevention efforts in the community. The community served is predominately Gila County, Graham County, and the neighboring Native American communities of San Carlos Apache and White Mountain Apache. The role of social work is important during all levels of service, follow-up, and outreach.
Special Placement Instructions:
BSW Full time, MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing, Part-time BSW, Part-time MSW. Transportation will be provided to the intern if needed. Video and audio taping is not permitted of victims unless the victim {and their guardian if appropriate) and the law enforcement agent are in agreement. Hours are predominately Monday-Friday with some evenings needed. Weekends are needed at times as well. Facility is a locked facility and so intern will coordinate with the Director when planning on being on-site.
