The Florida Department of Children and Families is committed to the well-being of children and their families. Our responsibilities encompass a wide-range of services, including-among other things assistance to families working to stay safely together or be reunited, foster care, youth and young adults (ages 18-22) transitioning from foster care to independence, and adoption.
The Statewide Office of Children Welfare and Regional Family Safety program offices work in partnership with local communities, courts and tribes to ensure the safety, timely permanency, and well-being of children.
Intern Job Description
Work in tandem with a certified Child Protection Investigator (CPI) to assess families needs and ensure child safety when such families have been reported to the Florida Abuse Hotline. Work with community partners to connect resources to families to assist families in ensuring the safety of children and meeting the basic needs. Attend staff meetings, court hearings, prepare documents, and make appropriate referrals.
Special Placement Information:
Agency are accepting BSW Full- time, MSW 1st year students, BSW and MSW part-time. DCF has normal business hours of 8-5 M-F with on call for immediate reports 5 Pm until 8 AM M-F. Weekend on call is 24 hours Saturday and Sunday. Student would have the opportunity to work on Saturday and Sunday if necessary. Travel is reimbursed at the 44.5 per mile. The student would not be allowed to transport clients in their personal vehicle. There is no availability for video or audio taping and public transportation would be dependent on the area/service center the student was interested in interning.
