Serving as one of the largest health, human, and social service nonprofit organizations in the South Florida area, Gulfstream Gulf Industries (GGI) has over 30 programs critical to those in need.
GGI serves and assists people with disabilities through employment, training, and housing. 
GGI is the largest homeless services provider in Palm Beach County. GGI operates 4 homeless shelters throughout the County. 
Our homeless residential programs serve over 225 homeless individuals in scattered site apartments as well as in two apartment complexes owned by the organization. In addition to the homeless services we provide, GGI facilitates adult day training services for adults with disabilities, employment services/placement for adults with disabilities, and adult and youth reentry program, a youth mentoring program, an alternative to secure detention program for youth, and a charter school for youth with developmental disabilities. Additionally, GGI has a community contracts division in which 75% of those employed through these contracts are individuals with disabilities.
For our youth justice programs, we serve children ages 12+. Two of our homeless shelters serve single adults only with ages ranging from 18+. One of our homeless shelters serves both individuals and families with an age range of 0+. Our homeless residential programs serve individuals ages 18+. 
Social Workers engage all program participants utilizing a person-centered approach. Social Workers are trained in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and satori alternatives to managing aggression. Social Workers engage individuals served through creation of a personal development plan, which lists the goals and objectives that the individual wishes to achieve.

Intern job description:
Please not that this description is only for a case management internship at one of Gulfstream Goodwill's homeless shelters.
1. Provide housing-focused and person-centered case management for individuals experiencing homelessness at the shelter - a low barrier shelter. Work along with participants to create an individualized housing plan, provide guidance and support to participants to meet their individualized housing goals, and contribute to the mission of Goodwill by advocating for the participants and maximizing opportunities for persons experiencing homelessness to become more independent, guided by precedent and working within the limits of established policies.
2. Receive and review intake information for new participants in the shelter.
3. Meet with individual participants and review interests, work history, and goals. Complete SPDATs as required. Work in cooperation with participants to establish individual housing goals.
4. Create a warm and welcoming environments and implement and support the principles of a trauma-informed care environment.
5. Develop individualized housing plans that assist guests in identifying permanent housing options in the community.
6. Verify participant's eligibility and research benefits being received and assist with applications, if needed.
7. Assess participant's barriers to housing and support individual in identifying strategies to overcome barriers.
8. Provide resources and referrals to assist participant as need to support housing plans.
9. Provide participant with housing counseling and support and serve as a liaison between program providers, direct care staff, and other support provides, Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, assessments, and information gathering and sharing with staff. Research and recommend resources and make referrals to other programs.
10. Enter the data gathered from participant contacts into the appropriate database systems for case follow-up and review. Ensure that participant consent forms are obtained and on file.
11. Investigate and find out what agencies and organizations within the community serve persons experiencing homelessness. Determine what programs, support groups, and services are offered. Offer to make presentations to groups to enhance community awareness of the programs and opportunities offered by the Western Shelter HRC 3.
12. Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and various meetings with GGI staff and others to receive guidance on program changes or enhancements.
13. Participate in training to upgrade skills as courses become available. Complete all GGI required trainings within six months of hire.
14. Provide assistance with other general department activities. Provide any range of department administrative assignments or special projects as requested.

Special placement information:
Accepting BSW, MSW 1st-year, and MSW 2nd-year/Advanced Standing (clinical + SL students). Full- and part-time positions available.

Transportation to and from facility required. Travel reimbursement for work-related travel available. Depending on location, agency accessible by public transit.
Stipends not available.
Depending on location, weekend and evening hours may be available. Hours are flexible.
