Lynn Cancer Institute is an outpatient oncology center affiliate with the Boca Raton Regional Hospital.  We treat all cancers (both chemotherapy and radiation therapy) our population is adult only.  The support services team is comprised of five LCSW Social Work reviews distress screening forms; performs initial assessments; provides individual supportive counseling/family counseling, Facilitates support groups. Links to concrete services.  Patients are able to utilize the social work team/services at no charge while they are on active treatment and up to 1-year post-treatment.  The Social Work team also spearheads our community engagement activities such as the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides against Breast Cancer walk.  The team organizes educational programs and lectures at the cancer institute.  The latter row examples could help support the “macro” level of social work.

Special Placement Information

MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Students, (clinical) part-time MSW (12-16 hours per week over two semesters).  The student will not be required to travel while working at the agency.  The s5tudent will not require additional insurance.  The video/audio taping is not permitted.  Hours range from 7:30 am-4:30 depending on area student is working in.  No nights.  Weekends are only when we have a community event we are involved in.  Our agency is accessible by bus.  We do require professional dress attire.  Flu shots are required for students that work within our healthcare setting.
