The Macon County Dept. of Social Services provides direct public assistance to all citizens of Macon County ranging in age birth until end-of-life.  
Services provided address stabilization of issues including poverty, family violence, food insecurity, and child and adult maltreatment.  Services include Medicaid eligibility determination, TANF, child and adult welfare service, senior service, childcare subsidy eligibility determination, low-income energy assistance, and crisis intervention programs, and SNAP. Adult, child, and family social work services include adult protective services, guardianship, representative payee services, in-home services, child protective services, CPS in-home services, foster care, adoption, and foster home licensing.  Senior services include congregate meal service, home-delivered meals, adult day programming, options counseling, and related elder care services.
