The Playful Family empowers families to play their way through the challenges of raising children by simplifying the science behind what helps families connect and thrive. Provide education, intervention, and treatment for parents involved in child welfare systems through evidence based parenting education, supervised visitation services, and parent and child enrichment classes. We also have an indoor playground families use to learn more about healthy development and work on social skills and build support as a parent. The children in our center also have opportunities to engage in early intervention services with our partner providers and utilize the play space to enrich those therapeutic activities. The Playful Family works with children all ages 0-18 depending on the services that are being provided. The indoor play space is appropriate for ages 10 and under. The role of social work at this agency is in implementing parenting education for families, ensuring the safety of children while in our center, referring families to outside resources, communicating with partner agencies about a family's services (such as Sheriff's Office, Dept of Children and Families, the Courthouse, etc.) We implement groups utilizing evidence-based curriculums, we recruit participants, we provide documentation for court cases, and testify in court as needed.

Special Placement Information:

The Agency is accepting BSW Full-time, MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Clinical Students, Part-time BSW, Part-time MSW.  A student will need transportation if they intern with our agency for extended period of time of for multiple semesters. It is possible they could complete home visits or visit families in the field depending on the cases assigned to the agency at the time. The intern will also be given the opportunity to facilitate parenting education in person and virtually depending on the requested service, but a computer and telehealth access will be provided. Travel is not reimbursed by the agency and no stipend is available at this time. Students do not need liability insurance. Video and Audio taping is not permitted without the permission of those involved, however surveillance cameras are active within the playground space at the agency. The agency is open 7 days a week with playground hours being 9:00amam-4:00pm, but the agency also hosts several after-hours events throughout the month that occur up to 8:30 pm. Weekend hours are available. The agency is not accessible by bus.
