The Safe Children Coalition serves as the Lead Agency for Community Based Care in three counties - Sarasota, Manatee, and DeSoto. The Safe Children Coalition (SCC) is a collaboration between local community entities who together provide a continuum of child welfare services for dependent children who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned. Child protection services provided include case management, foster care, independent living, and adoptions. SCC serves children from birth to 23 and their families. The role the social work is to facilitate a case plan ensuring the ongoing safety, well-being and permanency for every child. The social work staff work hand-in-hand with community providers for the benefit of the children and their families. The SCC mission is protect children, strengthen families, and build community.

Special Placement Information:

Agency is accepting BSW Full-time, MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing students, (Clinical) Part-time BSW, Part-time MSW. The student will need to provide their own transportation to and from the agency. They will not receive any travel reimbursement or stipend. They will need to complete a will not receive any travel reimbursement or stipend. They will need to complete a volunteer application which includes a background screening. The agency's hours are Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. which will be the student's working hours. There may be opportunities for after hour home visits or community appointments. There is limited access to public bus transportation. Attire should be professionally appropriate. Additional Comments: Student will need to complete an interview, once accepted they will complete the application process, including background checks prior to starting their internship
