The PALS THRIVE program provides internships at two public middle schools, one public alternative school, four public high schools and one private high school in the Gainesville area. Additionally, internships are provided at the Shands Vista Psychiatric Hospital on the adult general unit, child/adolescent unit, adult substance abuse unit and the intake department. The role of the intern is to provide therapeutic interventions in group and individual settings at their assigned site.     

Special Placement Information:       

  The Agency is accepting MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing Clinical Students, (Clinical), Part-time MSW. The student will either need their own transportation or will need to utilized public transportation in the Gainesville area to and from their internship site. No client travel is permitted. Stipends are available to interns who accept the research position or the position at Saint Frances Catholic Academy. Additional stipends are awarded to interns who demonstrate exceptional skills, as funds are available. Student are covered by FSU liability insurance. Audio taping is permitted with parent or patient consent. School placement hours are school hours. Vista Psychiatric hours for interns are 7am-10pm, seven days a week. All sites are accessible by bus.                                                                                                                                                             .
