The Walton Sheriff’s Office entered into a contract/grant with the State of Florida in 2018 to provide child abuse investigations to the county. The unit is staffed with certificate child protective investigators that actively investigate child abuse, neglect, and abandonment. The investigators conduct quality interviews of all household members, extended family members and friends of the family. The investigators also make assessment of the family for child safety make recommendation to help meet the needs of the family and make referrals to community resources to assist the family.

BSW Full time, MSW 1st year and Advanced Standing, (Social Policy and Administration), (Clinical), Part-time BSW, Part-time MSW. The Walton County Sheriffs office provides a vehicle for any travel needs. The agency provides a cell phone, laptop computer for any work, and would cover related trips. The child protective unit generally operates Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm however, there is after hours on call and on call Saturdays and Sundays.
