Information

Founded in 1985 The family Center (TFC) is a DCS licensed child abuse prevention agency in Davidson and Rutherford Counties.  Programs break cycles of trauma that negatively impact families, child development, and school n life success.  How we parent our children impacts their lifelong health and welfare.  Most parents are affected by daily demands, time limitations, and stress in general.  It can be overwhelming.  We reach out to parents that also have history of adversity and trauma and may not have had good parenting role models.

We use proven curriculum and expert staff to offer information, emotional support, skill building and personal insights to help people be the best parents possible.

Positive Parenting…Plus!—8-week group sessions offer parents and caregivers information, skills, and peer support.  The “Plus” refers to the optional children’s group that includes a family meal.

Nurturing Families—one -on-time family sessions are offered in homes and community locations and help parents identify specific needs and gin information and skills to create safe, stable nurturing homes.

Parenting Seminars—2-to-4-hour sessions developed for specific audiences, such as Co-Parenting, for divorcing/separating parents, First 3! For parents of newborns through toddlers, led by pediatric experts.

Community Resilience—spreads awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences and Adverse Community Environments (ACE), trauma-informed care and organizational wellness through trainings, workshops, structured facilitations.

Our target population includes parents, caregivers and children.  This includes incarcerate parents, parents in substance abuse residential treatment facilities, parents housed in domestic violence shelters, and divorcing parents.
