Social Services is a department of Flagler Hospital. The social workers’ primary function is discharge planning. Populations most served are elderly patients — although Flagler admits patients of all ages. The social worker’s main role is arranging nursing home placement, setting up home health and medical equipment, working with hospice, etc. Social workers also assist patients and families with end of life issues, crisis intervention and ethical issues regarding care.

Generalists: BSW and MSW / MSW (2nd year and Advanced Standing):SPA and Clinical / Part-time BSW and MSW — Students will need own transportation. Travel is reimbursed – A stipend is available under certain circumstances – no liability insurance is needed – Video or audiotaping may be permitted depending upon circumstances – 8 am-5 pm – weekend hours may be available – The hospital/agency is not accessible by bus.
