Physicians in more than 40 specialty and subspecialty areas work at Mayo Clinic in Florida.  Mayo Clinic hospital is the admitting hospital for Mayo Clinic in Florida.  It has 214 beds and 22 operating rooms and offers care in more than 35 medical and surgical specialties.  The hospital includes a full service Emergency Department, open to everyone.  Mayo Clinic hospital, which opened in April 2008, brings in-patient and outpatient services under one roof.  This integration consolidates a team approach that brings together specialty physicians, researchers and educators who collaborate to do what is best for patients.  The new hospital combines the best high technology with quality patient care and attention to detail.  State-of-the art equipment, advanced technologies and a nurturing, friendly environment merge the science of medicine with the art of healing.  More than 2,000 patients come to Mayo Clinic in Florida every day for diagnosis or treatment.  About half come from Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.  Others travel from the Southeast, the rest of the United States and foreign countries, primarily Canada, Central and South America and the Caribbean.  In Florida, Mayo Clinic treats primarily adults, although some specialists see teenagers and young children.  Physicians in the Mayo Primary Care Centers treat patients of all ages, including infants and children.

Special Information: 

MSW clinical students. Students are responsible for their own housing and transportation.  We can provide a list of housing for their reference; but they may stay anywhere of their choosing.  No stipend is provided to the student and there is no charge to the student for Medical Social Work internship.
