Bismarck Public Schools provides general education and special education to 13,656 students from Pre-K (ages 3) through 12th grade. A social worker's role within Bismarck Public Schools is very diverse. A social worker is part of the special education team, helping serve needs and social skills instruction to those on an Individual Education Plan OEP). They support all levels of the Multi­ Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), providing services with interventions ranging from all students (Tier 1) to our most severe students (Tier 3). Social workers are advocates for children and will help link families to services. Additionally, they support teachers with classroom management, providing trauma-informed practices, and facilitating Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Interventions Plans.

Special Placement Information:

Agency is accepting BSW Full-time, MSW 1st year students, MSW 2nd year and Advanced Standing (Clinical), Part-time BSW, Part-time MSW.  Agency hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:00 pm, and there are occasionally after-hours requirements periodically throughout the year. The student must have a valid driver's license and insurance; however, if any transportation of clients or children needs to occur, a school-owned vehicle will need to be utilized. The student is reimbursed if their vehicle would need to be used for transport to meetings or home visits. Video of clients will be prohibited.
