Information

St. Vincent's Hospital is a 375-bed acute care hospital.  They have a neonatal intensive care unit for infants and serve clients from birth to elderly.  Primary function is to ensure a safe discharge from the hospital to the least restrictive environment appropriate for client needs (sometimes home, SNF, psychiatric, substance abuse placements). Social workers provide supportive counseling and also act as case managers working with medical staff, community resources, client and family to prepare for safe discharge from this acute care setting.  Social workers serve as advocates for the clients.

2nd year and Adv. Standing MSW clinical students. Students will not need transportation to serve clients - all clients either IP at hospital or at Internal Medicine Clinic located on hospital campus. No stipend is available for interns. Students do not need liability insurance.  Students are covered by the hospital's insurance.  Video or audio taping are not usually permitted.  Internship hours will be performed M-F from 8:00-4:30.  Interns will be able to work in all speciality units of the hospital (NICU, ICU, Orthopedics, Internal Medicine,Pediatrics, etc.).
