Congratulations to our many distinguished faculty members who remain dedicated to the advancement of the social work profession. Listed below are a few of their recent awards and achievements.
- Dr. Eric Garland won the 2011 Society for Social Work and Research Outstanding Dissertation Award for his dissertation entitled ”Biopsychsocial assessment of a mindfulness-oriented cognitive intervention for alcohol dependent adults.”
- Dr. Martell Teasley won the Gary Lee Shaffer Award for Academic Contributions to the Field of School Social Work Award, given by the School Social Work Association of America.
- Margaret Ashmore and Dr. Stephen Tripodi were awarded with 2010-2011 University Undergraduate Teaching Awards.
- Karen Oehme, Director of the Institute for Family Violence Studies, was awarded “The Distinguished University Scholar Award” from the Council on Research and Creative Activity.
- Dr. Neil Abell was appointed a member of the CSWE Council on Global Learning, Research, and Practice.
- Dr. Stephen Tripodi was an invited presenter for the conference, “Pink Crime: Women, Crime and Punishment,” Ariel University Centre of Samaria Department of Criminology and Netanya Academic College School of Law. His presentation, Incarcerated Women in the United States: Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Victimization, was funded by The Center for Behavioral Health Services & Criminal Justice Research.
