The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihood are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future.
The IRC Tallahassee office provides critical programs and services to refugees and asylees that help them rebuild their lives and become thriving community members.
IRC Tallahassee primarily resettles refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Syria.
The ages of clients vary between the ages of newborn and 65.
The office resettles families, which range from 5-9 members per family unit.
IRC staff and interns provide psychosocial support to all refugees.  IRC engages with refugees as soon as they touchdown at the airport.  Within three months, IRC staff help refugees secure housing, attain access to health insurance, enroll in English classes or school, complete cultural orientation, connect to critical services based on client needs, and find their very first jobs in the U.S.  IRC staff offer job training, assistance with resumes and interviews, vocational ESL classes, and other programs and services to build the self-sufficiency and economic empowerment of refugees.
Upon completion of services and each client interaction, progress and case notes are required to be completed by staff and interns.  All data is entered into the IRC's web software, ETO.
Staff and interns work jointly in providing the best services to clients in order for them to attain economic self-sufficiency and community integration.
