The American Community Survey indicates that there are 57,000 16-to-24-year-olds in the Tallahassee area. In accordance with the Measure of America Research on Social Science calculations, approximately 7,000 of those youth have dropped out of school and are not in the labor market. TEMPO provides a path for Disconnected Youth to essential services; enables vocational education opportunities; connects youth to workforce training through short-term apprenticeships with local organizations; and enables the benefit of workforce training through job placement.

Special Placement Information:

Accepting BSW and MSW 1st-year students. Full- and part-time positions available. This position will be assigned various administrative and or technical duties in the field to which the position is assigned. 
Duties may include but are not limited to: assisting case workers with minimum general case management needs; collecting data; assisting case workers with engaging disconnected youth; compiling and analyzing data for administrative decisions; assisting in the preparation and maintenance of statistical records; assisting higher-level personnel in preparing special projects, study and conduct research; maintain and prepare reports, forms, and correspondence; provide written and oral updates to staff; assist in providing strategies; and perform related work as required.
This is a part-time or full-time unpaid internship opportunity for a period from one semester up to one year. The primary hours of operation will be from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday with occasional work opportunities on the weekend. Students are only required to meet the insurance requirements of their respective University. Students will assist a team and supervisor in the performance of a variety of administrative and/or case management duties. The student will operate under immediate supervision and will receive on-the-job training in the city government field to which the position is assigned. Students will not need transportation nor mileage reimbursement be provided, because travel will only occur in City of Tallahassee vehicles that will be operated only by City of Tallahassee staff.
