The Stoops Center for Communities, Families, and Children (Stoops Center) recently launched a groundbreaking program designed to enhance your work with young clients.

The innovative Clinical Rebound & Recovery for Early Childhood professional certification is for clinicians working with children ages 3 to 8. The program provides invaluable tools to help young clients connect their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—fostering emotional and behavioral regulation through a structured, evidence-based intervention.

Clinical Rebound & Recovery for Early Childhood addresses the unique needs of early childhood professionals, equipping them with a cognitive behavioral toolbox tailored to help children identify and name emotions, understand their connections to behavior, and reframe maladaptive thoughts.

With Rebound & Recovery's pre-structured sessions and case notes, clinicians will save time while helping young children with various diagnoses build their social and emotional development through cognitive behavioral therapy, incorporating elements of art and play therapy.

"We're excited to offer this specialized training for clinicians passionate about supporting young children's emotional and social well-being," remarked Ellen Piekalkiewicz, Director of the Stoops Center for Communities, Families, and Children. "Clinical Rebound & Recovery gives professionals a structured, research-backed approach to early intervention, which is essential in our work to strengthen families and communities."

The professional certification is online and self-paced, with 15 modules that provide clinicians with all the knowledge they need to implement the ten pre-structured sessions for their young clients. Throughout the ten sessions, clinicians receive guidance for supporting young clients to build emotional resilience, enhance self-regulation, and improve their overall mental health and well-being. The program also includes all necessary tools for implementation, including session activities, client homework sheets, caregiver letters, and caregiver education materials.

"As a licensed clinician who works with children, I believe the Clinical Rebound & Recovery intervention is an incredible resource for clinicians who want to deepen their impact with young children," says Tai Cole, Associate Director of the Stoops Center. "This program not only equips professionals with the tools to foster emotional growth in children but also empowers them to help children build essential skills that will benefit them throughout their lives."

One of the core goals of Clinical Rebound & Recovery is to create a partnership between clinicians and families. By engaging caregivers throughout the process, clinicians can help extend the benefits of therapy beyond the session. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to reinforce the skills learned in therapy, creating a consistent environment that supports children's emotional growth.

With the launch of Clinical Rebound & Recovery for Early Childhood, the Stoops Center team invites other clinical and other early childhood professionals to promote this essential work, believing that -- Together, we can help our youngest learners build the resilience they need to thrive in school, relationships, and beyond.
