Founded in 2011, the Arts & Athletics Program at the FSU College of Social Work was established as a positive youth development initiative by then-Dean Dr. Nick Mazza through the support of generous FSU donors Guy and Delores Spearman.
Dr. Jessica Pryce, a research faculty member at the Florida State University College of Social Work, launched her new book, BROKEN: Transforming Child Protective Services…Notes of a Former Caseworker this March. Dr. Pryce uses her expertise as a social worker and former caseworker in the book to explore the issues found within the United States child welfare system.

Kelly Daugherty (MSW 2002), the founder of Greater Life Grief Counseling and the Center for Informed Grief, LLC, has dedicated her career to providing resources and support for individuals facing the challenges of grief and loss.
"I wanted to go to a school that would offer me a college experience like you see in the movies as a first-generation college student," recalled BSW student Lucy Lawrence.
She came to FSU for its beautiful campus as a theater major, wanting to connect with people and provide commentary on the world around her through art. "I felt like I was missing the element of truly working with people and helping my community," she stressed. "When I found the College of Social Work, I fell in love with the program and the profession."
Dr. Amy L. Ai, a distinguished research professor at the FSU College of Social Work, was recognized by the Society for Behavioral Medicine (SBM) as the 2024 recipient of the Integrative Health and Spirituality Special Group (IHS SG) Distinguished Scientist Award.
A memorial service in honor of Norman B. Anderson has been scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024, at Dodd Hall, 641 University Way, on the campus of Florida State University.

Florida State University launches the 13th annual FSU’s Great Give on Wednesday, March 6.
During the 24-hour event, the FSU College of Social Work’s project focuses on supporting social work students in completing their field placement internships. The college has set a goal of raising $40,000.
Since 2011, the annual day of giving has garnered tremendous support from donors worldwide. Last year, FSU’s Great Give raised $1+ million thanks to the generosity of 5,155 donors.
