FSU Center Receives Goodwill Partner of the Year Award, Partners with WFSU Public Media

The FSU Center for the Study and Promotion of Communities, Families and Children (CFC Center) was awarded the 2020 Mission Partner of the Year Award by Goodwill Industries - Big Bend, Inc. The award recognizes a community partner who assists Goodwill in fulfilling its mission to support people with disabilities and exceptional needs.

CFC Center Receives SAMHSA Grant to Create Substance Use Disorder Curriculum 

A team from Florida State University’s College of Social Work has received a $200,000 grant to develop a new evidence-based curriculum related to substance use disorders. 

The FSU Center for the Study and Promotion of Communities, Families, and Children (CFC Center) based at the Florida State University College of Social Work received a 2020 Expansion of Practitioner Education grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).  

Nourish to Flourish Project: Self-Care and Recognition for Social Workers

The FSU Center for the Study and Promotion of Communities, Families, and Children teamed up with the FSU College of Social Work and the National Association of Social Workers, Florida Chapter (NASW-FL), to develop the Nourish to Flourish Project. This project was created to provide recognition, appreciation, and support to the social work profession.

At A Glance Update

The CFC Center under the aegis of the College of Social Work (CSW) was created with the support of the Stoops Foundation, Inc. in 2017. The purpose of the CFC Center is to generate and sustain transformational knowledge for the development of effective policies, services, and usable research.

FSU Center Partners with Save the Children to Provide Resources to Those Affected by Hurricane Michael

The FSU Center for the Study and Promotion of Communities, Families, and Children (CFC Center) received an $80,000 grant from Save the Children to help those affected by Hurricane Michael. The CFC Center, within the FSU College of Social Work, will use the grant to respond to the mental health needs of children, families, teachers and community providers experiencing trauma as a result of Hurricane Michael. The project will run from May to December 2019, with a possible opportunity to extend funding into the spring and summer of 2020.
